Daughter’s Accusations Allege Financial Elder Abuse, Mortgage Fraud, Identity Theft

October 11, 2007 Los Angeles George Clifford White, Stanford grad, class of ’31, published author and long time Bay Area business man and resident, age 96, died at home in San Rafael, California, January 16, 2007. Mr. White’s wife, Charlotte of forty five years, died January 7, 1993. Both died under the care of professional caretaker Augusta Salinas, forty years younger than both White’s.

Due to Mr. White’s failing health and eyesight, hearing and immobility, he became a victim of neglect, and financial elder abuse. In a Complaint filed by Mr. White’s 68 year old daughter Judy Myers,  in Marin County Superior Court,  accessible at  www.georgewhitelegaldefensefund.com and exposes how 52 year old defendant/professional  caretaker Augusta J S Hassan, aka Augusta J. S. White, allegedly, illegally took out millions of dollars in sub prime mortgage loans, without Mr. White’s knowledge. Augusta used the loans, including a million dollar SBA loan to purchase two assisted living centers, housing 43 senior citizens, in Marin County.  Judy claims Augusta never had any intention of paying the money back and both those homes for the elderly are presently in foreclosure.

What started as a routine background check on Augusta, in the summer of 1999 by Ms. Myers had spun out into a full scale 8 year investigation at great personal effort and great expense for Ms. Myers. Now Ms. Myers is demanding all the real and personal properties totaling close to $15 million be returned and that due to an invalid and allegedly forged and invalid will, rewritten in 1999.  In addition Judy wants to verify the true identity of Augusta and others in her family.

Ms. Myers states she was never notified of her father’s death until three months after using her investigative tools.  The death certificate, filled out by Augusta, Judy learned, is invalid due to an inaccurate social security number for Mr. White, no attending physician at the time of death, and an inaccurate explanation of the Cause of Death, described as “Sepsis” with no known cause. In addition the Manner of Death was omitted. Shockingly Augusta is listed on his death certificate as both Augusta J.S. White, “wife” as well as Augusta J.S. Hassan “spouse”.  Judy has found dozens of other names Augusta uses along with three different birth dates. Her son 28 year old son Joseph has been part of this scam as well.  

Judy, with the above mentioned information brought these errors to the attention of Coroner Kenneth Holmes, and asked for an exhumation of her father’s body, but he refused to answer her request. County Recorder, Joan Thayer, also refused to do anything about the information she gave them. What are they hiding?

Mr. White’s health, welfare and assets were unprotected by public and private institutions that ignored specific rules meant for cases like his.  In death he is being ignored by an indifferent City Government that is supposed to protect its elderly citizens.   He is dead and his assets are in jeopardy, his name and reputation smeared. Judy’s personal intervention is the only reason the courts are involved.###
